On November 14, I sang the National Anthem at BGSU's very first on-campus Relay for Life, put on by Colleges Against Cancer. The event was held at the Perry Fieldhouse on the Bowling Green campus and was an 18 hour event with over 500 people in attendance! 23 survivors were guests at the event and started off the relay with an emotional survivors lap around the track! This Relay for Life was an extremely successful relay surpassing all of its goals! They had 29 teams and raised $21,087.67 as of closing ceremonies with all of the money raised going to the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is the biggest fundraiser for the American Cancer Society where teams pledge to walk for a number of hours to raise money to donate to ACS for cancer research and cancer fighting medical equipment.A special thanks to my friend Jenny for inviting me to be a part of this fantastic and successful event! I hope to continue my involvement in the future!
