Yesterday Dance Marathon had it's official Kick-Off celebration on campus! There was lots of activities, some refreshments, and of course, DANCING! Dance Marathon is a campus wide event held in March on BGSU's campus (but active all year long) to raise money for Children's Miracle Network which goes to our local CMN hospital, St. Vincent's Children's Hospital in Toledo, OH. BGSU Dance Marathon is an event that raises around 1/3 of St. V's CMN funds for the year! At the "main event" in March hundreds of "dancers" will participate in activities, stand, and dance for 32 hours straight in the BGSU rec center "For the Kids". Its such a fun event, I can't wait!
For the kick-off, I was invited to talk about the partnership between the Miss America Organization and Children's Miracle Network, and I performed "Gold". I was also so excited to meet a few of the Miracle Families, including the Thomas family and heard AJ's miracle story. AJ is a miracle child who was treated at our local CMN hospital and is a serious "Guitar Hero"! His mother and sister, Crystal, also attended and I really enjoyed meeting them and spending time getting to know them!
I'm so excited for Dance Marathon this year, it's going to be a great year! Go DM!
